The volatile oils in ginger have long created it a helpful seasoning remedy for nasal and chest congestion. Pour two cups of boiling water over a 1-inch piece of raw, grated ginger; steep for ten minutes; and strain. Add a pinch or 2 of cayenne pepper to the water and drink as required.
